The 2nd Annual Free Parol (Christmas Lantern) Workshop held December 1, 2007 was a big success. In spite of the cold snowy Chicago weather, Fil-ams of all ages worked on their parols at the Radmacher Gallery Hall of the Skokie Area Library in Skokie, Illinois. All materials were provided free and kakanin and salabat were available as the session went on. Christmas carols played in the background as excited children decorated their first parol. Fred DeAsis, renowned Fil-Am artist in Chicago area facilitated the workshop with the help of coordinator Jelly Carandang.
There were prizes for best parols and the Parol Workshop staff ensures that everyone has fully decorated parol to bring back home. It was indeed a joyous day to start a Filipino style Christmas season.
The Free Parol Workshop Staff in cooperation with the Asian American Arts and Cultural Foundation thank the generous sponsors, donors and friends for their support.
