Christmas in the Philippines is not complete without parol. The fun-filled workshop aims to promote one of the Philippines' cultural traditions during the Christmas season. The display of parol tradition goes back to early 1600s after the arrival of the Spaniards to spread Christianity. The workshop includes presentation of the history and significance of parol in our culture.

Enjoy the fun of making your own parol to bring home this Christmas season, belt out Filipino Christmas carol sing-a-longs, plentyful tasty kakanins, exotic drinks,regalo para sa mga kabataan,surprise guests performance, Christmas raffles, best parol prizes and more!

Our workshop facilitator is Cmsr. of Arts and Culture Fred DeAsis, a renowned Filipino American artist, cultural conservationist and ancient art lecturer.

He received the much coveted 2010 CFO Presidential Award from the President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III, for outstanding achievement and service in the field of Arts and Culture. The international award is given every two years to highly selected individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements on their given field. Last year's awards were presented to 24 recipients from 13 countries.

A Wholesome Family Affair

This is our 7th annual free parol workshop. All are welcome! Bring friends and loved ones. The much awaited Fil-Am community cultural event aims to celebrate and preserve one of Philippines' family tradition during Christmas season. Meet new and old friends alike. There is no politics allowed, no competition and no strict regulations. A simple celebration of our culture, sharing family values, story telling from Lolas and Lolos, helping one another and savoring the Pinoy Christmas spirit way far from our mother land.

Sign up is required. It helps us in logistics, manage the number of parol kits and Christmas gifts for the event.

An exclusive parol kit (materials to make your parol) is required for the workshop. Purchase on-line or at the venue.

Accommodation may be limited. You must sign up. Participants will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. Use the SIGN UP tab for quick registration.
